If you’re facing an unexpected pregnancy and your partner is pushing you toward an abortion you don’t feel ready for, it can leave you feeling confused, overwhelmed, and alone. You may be trying to balance his concerns with your own thoughts and emotions, all while navigating a deeply personal decision.
You may feel pressured due to his fears about finances, timing, education, or the future; however, even when it’s rooted in worry, that lack of support can make it hard to hear your own voice. Abortion is a significant decision, and it deserves thought.
At The Cherish Women’s Resource Centre, we offer no-cost, confidential support for every client who walks through our doors. You deserve a safe place to explore your options without being pushed in any direction.

Creating Space to Think Clearly
If conversations with your partner feel intense or one-sided, it’s okay to step back. You have the right to ask for time to think. Setting boundaries, such as saying you need time to reflect, is one way to protect your emotional well-being.
Creating distance can help you take responsibility for your health and future. Journaling, spending time outdoors, or confiding in someone you trust can help you sort through your feelings.
When Pressure Becomes a Warning Sign
There is a difference between sharing an opinion and attempting to control a decision. If your partner threatens to leave, withdraw financial support, or isolate you from family or friends unless you agree with him, these are signs of coercion. Coercion is not love, and it is not something you have to tolerate.
If you ever feel unsafe, emotionally or physically, help is available. For example, you can contact ShelterSafe.ca to find local shelters and crisis services. Reaching out for help is a strong and courageous step.
Exploring Your Options Without Pressure
When emotions are high, it can be challenging to think clearly about what’s best for you. The Cherish Women’s Resource Centre provides a calm, neutral space where you can talk through all of your options, including parenting and adoption, and learn about the potential physical and emotional impacts of abortion.
We can also connect you with practical resources such as housing support, counselling referrals, and ongoing care if you choose to continue your pregnancy. You are not expected to have everything figured out before coming in.
You Deserve Support and Respect
No one should feel forced into a decision about their future. At The Cherish Women’s Resource Centre, every client is treated with dignity, compassion, and respect.
Schedule your no-cost, confidential appointment today to speak with someone who will support you, honor your privacy, and help you explore your next steps at your own pace.
